Graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland with the class of 1934 (Graduate # 11427). Commanded the submarines SS-4 and USS Flasher (SS-249) in the Pacific during World War II. Awarded three Navy Crosses and four Silver Stars. Retired July 31, 1968 with the rank of Rear Admiral.
