Charles W. Cramp, 405 West Louther Street, died yesterday in the Carlisle Hospital. He was 55 years old.
He was born on August 21, 1909, at Carlisle, a son of Jacob Luther Cramp and the late Mary Mohler Cramp. He was an allowance specialist at the Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a member of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Men's Missionary Bible Class.
Mr. Cramp was an active leader in Boy Scouting, having attained the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth in California. About 35 years ago he helped to found Troop No. 160 in the First E.U.B. Church and was Scoutmaster and Cubmaster many times. He was active in the Order of the Arrow and was a member of the Carlisle District of Keystone Area Council, Boy Scouts of American, and served on the advancement committee for review of Star, Life and Eagle ranks in Scouting. This district presented him with the Award of Merit.
He was a past master of Cumberland Star Lodge, F.&A.M. No. 197 and past high priest of St. John's Royal Arch Chapter No. 171. He was a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, the Harrisburg Zembo Temple, and the National Sojourners Chapter No. 130.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fern Kramer Cramp; two daughters, Mrs. Robert T. Aarhus, Falls Church, Va., and Mrs. Kenneth W. Bolze, Carlisle; one son, Charles W. Cramp, Jr., at home; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob L. Cramp; one sister, Mrs. Clark Hine; one half-brother, Jack Cramp, and one half-sister, Mrs. Lester Hall, all of Corning, Calif., and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Roth Funeral Home, 169 West High Street. The Rev. Dr. H. A. Houseal and the REv. F. E. Remaly, pastor and associate pastor of the First E.U.B. Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Graveyard.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening, where the Cumberland Star Lodge will conduct a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m.
