Reginald Howard Benton, age 89, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2012 at home with his loved ones by his side.

Howard, as he was known to his family and friends, was born November 12, 1922 in Peniel, Texas. He was the third of 5 children born to James Walton and Vera Alma (Howard) Benton.

Howard came to southern California in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Jupiter. After the war he married his sweetheart, Margaret Pearl Wall on October 12, 1945. They were married 59 years until Margaret's death in 2005. Howard worked for Northrop Aircraft for 45 years then retired to Paradise, California in 1992. He loved bowling, fixing things and yard sales every weekend. Howard will be missed by all those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Wilbur Benton, sisters, Marie Rouse and Betty Jean Endsley.

He is survived by three children, sons, Dennis of Peoria, Arizona, Gary of Bellflower, California and daughter, Debbie Way of Paradise, California; his sister, Doris Emerson of Livermore, California; sister-in-law, Joan Hickerson of Sequim, Washington and several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Paradise Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Rose Chapel Mortuary.
