Obituary, The Oklahoman, March 8, 1997
Summer's pleasures are gone like a vision, and the cloudy days of autumn and winter are coming on. I tried to call them back but they are gone far away from heart and eye and forever far away. John Clare

Elizabeth Virginia Harkey left this life on March 6, 1997. She was born March 19, 1909 in Granby, Missouri but lived a long and happy life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage to Bill Harkey. They are together again. She was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where she was a loyal member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She taught art at Jackson school until her marriage on February 21, 1936 and often spoke of the children there. She was a devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she was active in the Daughters of the King. She was also supportive of a small Anglican Parish in Britain in their times of need.

Throughout her life she served her community with the best of her effort and time. 'Gin' loved the society of her friends and could never resist a good game of cards. She was creative and fun-loving. She always loved a practical joke but never at the expense of another's feelings. Like her father, she was a bit mischievous. Like her mother, she was a lady who treated all people with dignity and respect. The ideals by which she lived have kept her family strong and close. She left behind many close friends and a family who loved and cared for her deeply.

Her children: Susan Frogge, Ron Harkey, and Mike Harkey; her grandchildren, Mark, Greg, and Scott Frogge, and Sean, Austin, Jet, and Bess Harkey; and her great grandchildren, Emma Leigh, Caroline, Luke, and Hannah Frogge . Please send no flowers. Any memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, Oklahoma City. Memorial service is Sunday, March 9, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Oklahoma City.
