George R. Speare Sr., age 81, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Heritage Manor.
Born June, 4, 1930 in Hamtramack, Michigan he was the son of George E. and Florence C. (Lewandoski) Speare; he lived in the area since 1971.
George served his country for over 20 years in the US Army having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, retiring in 1967. He proudly flew his flag at his home every day.
George will be sadly missed by his five children: George Ralph Speare Jr. of Palm Coast, FL, Curtis E. (Kim) Speare of Austintown, Joseph (Bonita) Speare of Warren, Judith Ann (Wayne) Whitney of Twentynine Palms, CA., and Ruth M. (Steve) Wallis of Akron; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy and Phyllis, and brother Phillip all of Michigan.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Ada M. (Ezzell) who died on April 13, 2012; grandson Wayne Whitney Jr., parents three brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Friday from 6-8 PM where services will be held on Saturday at 1:00PM with Pastor Doug Wampler officiating. Burial and military honors will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
