FOR RICHARD PRICKETT

Georgetown, Jan. 7—(Special to The
Democrat)—Funeral services were held
here Saturday morning at 10 o'clock
from the Catholic church for Richard
Prickett, who died on Thursday of last
week.
The Democrat last week made brief
mention of Mr. Prickett's passing.
Services were conducted by the Rev.
Father T. J. Hayes, of St. Patrick's
church, Placerville. Burial was in the
Georgetown cemetery.
Prickett was the grand-son of an
early American who was captured by
Indians as a boy and was raised as
the foster son of an Indian chief of a
tribe in the vicinity of present-day
Chicago.
Mr. Prickett's mother at one time
is reported to have personally owned
the land where stands modern Chicago.
She was an Indian princess of
the Menomonee tribe. His paternal
grandfather came from, a prominent
British family.
Mr. Prickett had made his home in
this county for approximately a
quarter of a century, coming here
from Berkeley where he had been engaged
in business. He is survived by his widow.
