Norman W. "Curly" Nelsen, age 86, of North Mankato, MN died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 24 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Rev. Gary Wong, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Curly was born December 13, 1925 in Vesta, MN to William and Ada (Lehne) Nelsen. On October 23, 1949 he married Katheryn Heminover in Blue Earth County on the farm of John and Hazel Preston. He served in the US Army from 1944-1946. During his working career, Curly worked as a diesel truck and trailer mechanic for International Harvester, Doris Implement and Cotter and Company. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato American Legion Post 518, and Mankato VFW Post 950.

Curly is survived by his son, Robert (Doris) Nelsen of Chanhassen; daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Hamm of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren, Wes Nelsen, Angela (Matt) Johnson, Heather Hamm, and Nicole Nelsen; great grandchildren, Deja and Brandon Nelsen, Mira and Maxum Johnson; brothers, Harold Nelsen of Worthington, Vincent Nelsen of CA; sister, Kathleen (Jeff) Waters of Mason City, IA; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Katheryn, daughter, Lorri Nelsen, sisters, Mary Lou Baldwin and Mary Elizabeth Goblish.
