Dighton — Funeral for Alta Stormont, 49, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Mike Grogan and Kerry Grogan officiating.
Mrs. Stormont died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born March 18,1952, at Russell, the daughter of Lawrence Edward and Eleanor D. (Weigel) Wenger.
She graduated from high school at Russell and graduated from the nursing program at Garden City Community College in 1990. A Dighton resident since 1973, she worked as a registered nurse at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City and the Ness County Hospital in Ness City. Mrs. Stormont was a member of First Christian Church of Dighton. She and enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing and being around her grandchildren.
On Dec. 8, 1973, she married. Edwin D. Stormont at Ellsworth. He survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Nicci Rowe, Dighton; a stepdaughter, Terri Bernstein, Gilbert, Ariz.; two stepsons, Alan Stormont, Kansas City, Mo., and Daryn Stormont, Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Ron Wenger, Westminister, Colo., and Don Wenger, Clarksville, Texas; a sister, Ella Strode,Ellsworth; a half brother, Dee Wenger, Westfall; a half sister, Delinda Hernandez, Ulysses; a stepbrother, Wayne Butler, Florence, Colo.; a stepsister, Patty Gillen, Ulysses; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society both in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.
