Leota A. Gilbert passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012. Funeral: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 t o 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Kingdom Hall, 1115 West Park Row Drive, Arlington 76013. Officiating: Gerald Moss.
Leota was born in Sapulpa, Okla., to Joseph and Bessie Lynch on March 18, 1912. During and after World War II, she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" at TEMCO for 32 years. Later she began her career are a real estate agent. Her quick wit and ability to see humor in almost any situation made her a welcome companion to all ages. She enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling and quilting, and was devoted to her Jehovah Witness belief. Leota was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Oland L. Gray in 1958 and Weldon Gilbert in 1960; son, Jerry Newell Gray; daughter, Billie Jo Striedel; five brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors: She is survived by her daughters, Myra Smith and Nadine Bell; brothers, Winfred Lynch and Eddie Lynch; sisters, Opal Mooneyham and Charlene Mann; 17 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson; and numerous relatives and friends.
