Jose Abila, a retired railroad employee, died Saturday in a Fort Worth nursing home. He was in his late 60s.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick Cathedral, where he was a member. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Abila was born in Maricopa, Ariz., and moved to Fort Worth before 1943. He was a machinists' helper for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad for 42 years, until he retired in 1980. Mr. Abila was in the Navy in the mid-1940's.
Survivors include his wife, Soledad "Chole" Abila of Fort Worth; a daughter, Teresa Gallegos of Fort Worth; his mother, Maria Abila of Mexico; a brother, Fortina Abila of Mexico; and two grandchildren.
