Drura Wesley Alderman, 87, of Hillsville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Alderman retired from Olga Coal Company in Coalwood, WV, after 37 years of mining. He was a member of Local UMWA 6026, of Coalwood WV, the First Baptist Church of Hillsville, a 57 year member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge 193 AF-AM, and a member of the Hillbilly unit of the Kazim Shrine Temple. Mr. Alderman was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley & Martha Beasley Alderman; two brothers, Chester and Bill Alderman; four sisters, Myrtle Kenny, Edith Sowers, Velma Utt and Leila Webb; two sons, Harlan and Jack Alderman; and one granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Alderman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Georgia Shepherd Alderman of the home; one daughter & son-in-law, Sue & Kelly Collins of Hillsville; one daughter-in-law, Betty Alderman of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Eva Stanley O'Quinn of Memphis, TN; two granddaughters, Christi Alderman of Lake Charles, LA, and Mamie Collins Lloyd of Hillsville; and two great granddaughters, Renee and Kayleigh Lloyd of Hillsville. Funeral services will be Tuesday at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. The Rev. Steve Stephenson and the Rev. Norman Goad will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Monta Vista Memorial Gardens, Rt 887. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge 193 AF-AM following the visitation on Monday. Flowers would be appreciated or donations can be made to the First Baptist Church in Hillsville, Northern Surry Hospice, Mt. Airy, NC, or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
