Josie was the daughter of Nelson Thomas Creech of Elliott County, Kentucky and Lenora "Lee" (Johnson) Creech. She was married to Owen N Gambill (Lawrence County, Kentucky) who proceeded her in death in 1937. Josie and Owen had three sons and one daughter surviving: Asa G, Jesse L, and Ottis T, and Malissa Marie (Edward A) Wilson. She was also survived by a sister, Hannah (Creech) Griffith of Ashland, KY and a brother, Thomas Creech of Phoenix, AZ.
Josie was employed from many years at Robbitts Awning as a "stitcher" in Portsmouth, Ohio prior to moving to Lorain County with her sons. She lived the last several years of her life in the Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
