Joshua Morton, second child and eldest son of Seth Morton and his 1st wife Lydia Hall, b. of record Nov. 6, 1753 at Middleboro, Mass. He d. intestate and of consumption Oct. 11, 1789 at Middleboro, Æ 36. He is interred at the "Old Cemetery on the Green" at Middleboro.

On Nov. 12, 1778 of record at Middleboro, Mass., Joshua m. Sarah Cushman, dau. of Isaac Cushman and Sarah Miller, b. of record May 13, 1757 at Middleboro, Mass. She never remarried and d. Nov. 19, 1844 at Middleboro, Æ 88. She is also interred at the "Old Cemetery on the Green" at Middleboro. There were four children of the marriage b. of record at Middleboro:

• i. Lydia Morton, b. Sept. 11, 1779, d. July 31, 1855 at Middleboro, Mass.; m. Jan. 10, 1805 at Middleboro, Joshua Eddy Jr., s. of Capt. Joshua Eddy and Lydia Paddock, b. Feb. 3, 1779 at Middleboro where he d. Nov. 11, 1863.

• ii. Susanna Morton, b. Dec. 6, 1781, d. July 20, 1860 at New Bedford, Mass.; m. 1) Mar. 31, 1805 at Middleboro, Mass., Freeman Barrows, s. of Nathaniel Barrows and Hannah Jones, b. Mar. 22, 1783; m. 2) Apr. 10, 1828 at Middleboro as his 2nd wife, Capt. Southworth Ellis, s. of Thomas Ellis and Ruth Thomas, b. Feb. 18, 1769 at Middleboro, Mass. where he d. testate Dec. 15, 1840.

• iii. Elias Morton, b. July 26, 1784, d. unm. Nov. 2, 1801 of fever at Boston, Mass.

• iv. Joshua Morton, Jr., b. June 6, 1789, was living in 1802 when a guardian was appointed for him; no further record found.
