Alkanah Hepler, deceased, was born in Toby Township, Clarion County, and his wife was a native of Limestone Township, Clarion County. Mr. Hepler died October 31, 1917, and Mrs. Hepler died in August, 1903. Both are buried at Frogtown, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hepler was a farmer in early life and later learned the miller's trade and for many years conducted a flour and feed mill. He was a Republican and a member of the Reformed Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hepler were the parents of nine children: (1) Carney, married Carey Henry, resides in Clarion County, where he is engaged in the sawmill business; (2) Effie and (3) Carrie, both deceased ; (4) Erna, married Albert M. Campbell, a ranch owner, of Torrington, Wyoming; (5) Byron E., married Ella Bossert, live at Mount Vernon, Ohio, where he is vice president and treasurer of the Hope Engineering & Supply Company ; (6) Elsie, married James C. Campbell, head carpenter for a big refinery, live at Casper, Wyoming; (7) John A., a farmer, Clarion County, married Margaret Morris ; (8) Albert Karl, a veteran of the World war, U. S. Medical Corps, discharged as sergeant, first class, resides at New Alexandria, Pennsylvania, where he is owner of a flour and feed mill, married Alice Tippery, and they have two children, Robert H. and Andrew K.; and (9) Foster E., the subject of this sketch.
