Leon Lester Rogers, 87, of Edina, formerly of Leonard, died Thursday morning, November 17, 1988, in a Kirksville hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 1988, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, with the Brother Bob Schofield of Clarence officiating. Music was provided by Gina Myers and Ed Anderson, organist. Burial was in the "Garden of the Cross" in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

The son of Joseph and Louise Stalder Rogers, he was born November 26, 1900, in Novelty.

On September 25, 1921, at Macon, he married Grace Christina Campbell. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1977.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Guy (Arlene) Larson of Valley, Washington and Mrs. Carl (Rami Lou) Douglas of Novelty; one sister, Noma Johnston of Florence, Colorado; one brother, Ralph Rogers of Shelbina; ten grandchildren, Cleva Clark of Edina, Marsha Pinson of Novelty, L.C. Perry of Atchinson, Kansas, Connie Larson of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Kristina Larson of Valley, Washington, Jeanne Yanover of Valley, Washington, Carla Sears of Columbia, Lou Ann McEwen of Shelbina, Cliff Douglas of Edina and Ruey Douglas of Novelty and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ruby Joy Perry and two brothers, Santford and Wilbur Rogers.
Mr. Rogers had been engaged in farming in the Leonard community in Shelby County, After his retirement, he moved to Edina in 1968.

He was a member of the Novelty Christian Church and was also active in senior citizens' organizations.
