Flora V. Moore of Otsego passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Plainwell after a long battle with dementia. Flora was born November 23, 1922 in Almena Township to Frank and Daisy (Griffith) Masten. When Flora was 3 months old, her mother died and Flora was raised by her aunt and uncle, Etta and Charles Farnsworth. She was a 1976 graduate in the first Adult Education Class at Otsego High School and was the class speaker. For 36 years she had owned and operated the Bloomin’ Shop in Otsego. Flora was the first lady to serve on the Allegan County Board of Commissioners which she did for many years. For 27 years she served on the Mental Health Committee,several years aschairwoman. On November 23, 1940 in Otsego, she married William ‘Bill’ Moore who preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Morris and Margie and by her sisters Frances, Annabelle and Alice. Surviving are 2 sons and a daughter, William (Rachella ‘Gay’) Moore of Stanton, Chuck (Judy) Moore of Otsego, Bonnie (Larry) Eakins of Hudsonville; grandchildren, Kimberly Moore, Brenda Moore, Charles Jr. (Jennifer) Moore, Jaime (Tim) Merriman, Tom Jr. (Cheryl) Laws and Richard (Heather) Laws; 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and from 6-8pm at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am with Celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Contributions in memory of Flora may be made to the Otsego Lions Club or to the Alzheimer’s Association
