He was born on October 19, 1935 in Fountain, Michigan to Robert G. and Eileen (nee Brunke) Cameron. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division for two years. Robert moved to Wisconsin in 1958 to attend the Layton Art School in Milwaukee. On April 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Cope in Janesville.
Robert was employed at A.O. Smith / Tower Automotive for 30 years, retiring in January 1999. He was an avid sports fan and he especially enjoyed football, basketball and a good boxing match. He loved dogs and always had a dog in the family. He also enjoyed cooking.
Robert was very interested in his Scottish heritage. He enjoyed reading and studying about Scotland as well as researching his family's history.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four children, Robert S. (Chris) Cameron of Hartford, Susan (Scott) Badura of Jackson, Christine (Paul) Roelandt of Cedar City, Utah, and Scott (Merle) Cameron of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren, Scott Badura, Rachel Badura and Miranda Roelandt; his mother, Eileen Cameron of Pentwater, Michigan; a brother, Daniel Cameron of Pentwater, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Cameron.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in summer in Pentwater, Michigan. Robert's cremated remains will be interred in Pentwater Cemetery in Pentwater, Michigan.
