JOHN ANDERSON

John Newton Anderson was born March 27, 1837, near Kenton, Hardin county, Ohio, where he lived until 16 years of age, when he moved with his parents to Iowa. He resided in Iowa until the age of 21. When he was 21 years old he united with the Presbyterian church and afterward united with the Congregational church at Old Fairview, Kans. From Iowa he came to Nebraska, where he met Miss Louis Allison, to whom he was married Dec. 25, 1861. To this union were born 13 children, 11 of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson made their home near Hiawatha for 34 years, coming to their present home near Dunavant, nearly 18 years ago. Mr. Anderson's death was the result of an accident. He was driving to Ozawkie to celebrate the Fourth when his horse became frightened at an automobile and ran away, throwing him from the buggy and inflicting injuries from which he could not recover. He departed this life July 13, 1912, at the age of 75 years.
