John was the third son of Henry and Eliza (Renfro) Miller.
He was married to Nettie J.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock for Mr. John R. Miller, age 67 years, who passed away Monday at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital at Hayti. The services were held at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. A.C. Gardner and Rev. W.T. Pillows officiating. Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Miller had lived near Steele on Route 2, for the past 21 years and was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Miller, seven sons: Riley, J.W., Albert and John Henry of near Steele, Ira, C.L. and Clifford and a daughter, Mrs. Irene Riter, all of East St. Louis, 26 grandchildren; four brothers: Perry, Truman, Arkansas; Curry, Holland; Silas, Gobler, and Henry of Dyersburg, Tenn.

German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
