Matilda Kuzmic Horvath arrived in the USA along with her parents and 9 of her siblings in 1907. Her parents died shortly afterward of Typhoid Fever and the older girls in the family raised the younger children.Matilda was one of the older girls. Matilda had met her husband, Nicholas Horvath while living in Austria. It is said that her father raised horses and Nicholas , in the 5th regiment of the Hussars oh Hungary, was sent to buy horses for the cavalry....This is the story of how they met and they kept in contact. Matilda married Nicholas Horvath in 1909 , the same year both of her parents died. The weddi9ng took place in South Bend Indiana. Matilda and Nicholas had five children; Olga, Mary ,Angela, Florian and baby Nicholas who died shortly after he was born. She lived in South Bend until her death in 1965 .
