Joseph J. Schwobe Chilton Times June 9, 1906

Died, at his home in this village, on Thursday last, Joseph J. Schwobe, aged 78 years, 10 months and 21 days. The deceased was born in Prylandt, Ober Schlesing, Mirsig, Germany in 1822, In 1855 he came to America and thence to Kloten, where he was married to Mary Krautelt in 1856. Mr. Schwobe lived at Kloten until seven years ago when he moved to Chilton with his son. About a year ago he came to this village, where he resided until his death, which was caused by cystitis. The deceased was a kind neighbor and friend and was well liked by those who knew him. The funeral took place on Monday from St. Elizabeth's at Kloten. Besides an aged wife the deceased leaves four daughters, Mrs. Emma Simmons, Lebanon, S. D.; Mrs. Mary Meisel, of New Holstein, and Mrs. Fred Ecke, of this place, and two sons, Henry and Joseph Schwobe, of Stockbridge.
