Les was born Nov. 18, 1911, to John Florence and Anna Shogren Holden in Reno, Nev.
He married Ethel Louisa Eversen on Dec. 24, 1936, in Billings. He worked for the Farm Security Administration while Ethel taught school at Huntley Project.
They then moved to the Willow Creek and Townsend area where they farmed for 17 years. In 1955 they moved west of Valier.
Survivors include his two sons, John (Linda) of Valier, Scott (Karlee) of Reedpoint; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His wife of 63 years, Ethel, died Sept. 22, 1999.
