Local Optometrist Sue-cumbs to Injuries Suffered Dee. 21
Dr. William Spicer Granger, 47,well-known optometrist, passed away last night at 6:20 o'clock at his home, 714 South Hawthorne Road, Winston Salem, N.C.
Dr. Granger suffered a fractured skull on December 21 when he turned his ankle and fell, striking his head against a post. His condition had been critical since he was injured and he developed pneumonia several days ago.
A native of Wayne County, Dr. Granger was born November 26, 1858, at Goldsboro, a son of William Price and Juliett Bain Granger. He attended the Medical College of Virginia at Richmond, Va., and the Pennsylvania School of Optometry at Philadelphia. For several years he practiced his profession with the M. H. Harris Optical Company in New York City. He had resided in this city for the past eighteen months and was connected with Davis, as an optometrist.
He was married to Miss Myrtle Blaylock on February 7. Dr. Granger was a member of the American Legion, having served in the army at Camp Gordon at Atlanta, Ga., and at Camp McClellan, Anniston, Ala., during the World War. He was also a member of a Masonic lodge In New York city and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are the widow and two son, William B. and Robert H. Granger, all of this city. The body will remain at Vogler's Funeral Home until it is sent to Goldsboro for funeral and interment. the day and hour to be announced later.
