July 24, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Born September 24, 1917 in Lafayette,
she was the daughter of the late Jess L. and Margaret (Bol) Korschot. She was a
graduate of Jefferson High School. On March 3, 1937 she married Jacob Rhoda in
Lafayette and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1973. Mrs. Rhoda was a
ward clerk at Home Hospital for five years and after that she worked part time
at the City News Annex for 3 years. She was a lifelong member of Christian
Reformed Church, a member of prison ministry with Crossroad Bible Institute,
Ladies Aid Society with Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, Lafayette Christian
School Society, Home Hospital Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, and Elston
Home Extension Group, and was a story teller for Coffee Break Bible Study
children.
Surviving is a daughter, Patricia J. Dietrich (husband, David) of Lafayette;
three sons, George L. Rhoda (wife, Lucette) of Tucson, AZ, Jack D. Rhoda (wife,
Karen) of Lafayette, and Jacob A. Rhoda (wife, Sue) of Brookston; a sister,
Jeanette Vandergraff Needham (husband, Gilbert) of Lafayette; sixteen
grandchildren, Laura Karlek, Bill Rhoda (wife, Tina), George B. Rhoda, Bonita
Jane Wilson (husband, Bill),Phillip Rhoda (wife, Marisa), Douglas Rhoda (wife,
Regina), Stephen Rhoda (wife, Mary), Tricia Bosma (husband, Rob), Pamela
McNamara (husband, Kevin), Jim Dietrich (wife, Marcia), Janet Doty, David A.
Dietrich (wife, Laura), Joshua Rhoda, Jennifer Biehl (husband, Nathan), Janel
Mulligan (husband, Ryan) and Jill Pangle (husband, Austin); and twenty-seven
great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Dyer and a
brother, John Korschot.
Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service 10 a.m.
Monday at Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Douglas E. Pruim and Rev.
Stephen Rhoda officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
