She was born April 27, 1924 in Stokes County to Roy and Jennie Elizabeth Payne Fulk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lester Bennett. Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Thore; three grandchildren, Kenneth Bowman, Annette Bowman, and Lewis Thore; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Daniel and Dawson Bowman; two sisters, Elsie Stanley, and Ethel Hall; one brother, Alvin Fulk; two half-sisters, Betty Anders, and Dorothy Chilton. Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Scottie Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 this evening at Slate Funeral Home in King.
