William Applebly was born in New York in 1831, the son of Odel & Eliza [Curtis]Appleby, with 3 siblings: Henry, Mary and Hiram.
In 1850 he was enumerated in Twinsburg, Ohio. On 26 Nov 1857, in Solon Township, Ohio, Wm. B. Appleby married Ann Chamberlain, born 1835. By the 1860 census, William and Ann were parents of 1 year old Frankie. Their daughter Ida was born in 1861. A son, Charles, was born about 1871.
Wife, Ann, and daughter, Ida - deceased - do not appear in the 1880 census. In 1900, widower William Appleby is age 69, and living in Ewing, Nebraska with his son Frank, aged 51.
Still on the move, the 1910 census finds William B. Appleby living with his brother, Henry Appleby, in Columbia Township, Tuscola County, Michigan, where he dies of pneumonia on July 31, 1914
Henry O. Appleby, appears to have placed the grave marker. When I noticed the 98 year-old marker's unfortunate condition, I volunteered an hour upon grave site restoration. The photo posted is after completion of resetting the stone. A BEFORE photo is on my website.
