Earl Walter "Walt" Adams, 100

NORTH LIMA – Earl Walter "Walt" Adams, 100, died May 5, 2009 at Assumption Village.

Mr. Adams was born March 11, 1909 in Denver, a son of Walter and Rose Kepler Adams.

He graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1932 with a degree in Metallurgy. After graduation, he went to work for the Homestake Mines in Lead, S.D. After that, he moved to Los Altos, Calif., where he began his 35 years with Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical. He helped to initiate the building and operation of several plants in California, Louisiana, Ohio and other areas of the country.

Mr. Adams was an accomplished woodworker and a watercolor artist. He was a member of the Honorary Scholastic Engineering Fraternity Tau Beta Pi. He was a former member of the Moravian Church of Lititz in Pennsylvania, where he and his wife lived before returning to this area in 1996.

He leaves his wife, the former Eleanor Roberts, whom he married June 15, 1957; his two daughters, Mariam Frenier of Morris, Minn. and Nancy Wilson of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Adams of Denver; four grandchildren, Kenneth Champagne, Catherine Cutrer, Jacquelyn Champagne and Eric Darce; and two nieces and two nephews in Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Catherine Primm Adams.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
