Funeral services for Mrs. Albert BLock of McAllen, 65, native of DeWitt County, were recently held in the First Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. The Rev. Milam A. Brantley, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, and nephew of the deceased, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Gary Matthews of the First Presbyterian Church at Yorktown. Burial was in Westside Cemetery. Mrs. Block was the former Margaret Ruth Brantley. She was born near Cuero June 25, 1900. Her parents were Arnold and Rena Scott Bradley. She grew up in Garfield community and taught school for several years in Cabeza, Runge and Friedland communities. On Dec. 23, 1920 she was married to Albert Block. He died Aug. 3, 1964. Two sons, Jack Howard and John Robert also preceded her in death. Survivors are two sons, Albert Brantley Block of Washington, D.C. and Raymond of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. John Mikel of Woolstock, Iowa; Mrs. Johnny Pickett of San Antonio; Mrs. Edwin Murphy of Houston and Mrs. Harmon Oxford of Mission; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Susie Block of Yorktown; Mrs. Ada Bell Moss of California and Mrs. Reed Parr of La Pryor; three brothers, Roy and Arthur Brantley of San Antonio and Harold Brantley of Laredo.
