Lucius was the the second of two children born to Benjamin and Lucinda (Day) Dunham.

On January 1, 1866 he married Marcia Andrews in Leeds. Lucius was in business with Marcia's brother, Charles F. Andrews. Dunham and Andrews were proprietors of a large boarding house in Lewiston that had more than 60 residents.

This couple had four children. The youngest child was about two years old when Marcia died.

Of the children: Benjamin Irvin died at age 18. Nellie married Fordyce Farr and moved to Spokane, Washington. Eva did not marry. Winifred married T. Edgar Beatty and lived in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.

After 1900 Lucius and Eva moved with Winifred and her husband and lived in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. Lucius died there.
