John McGee Burnham was the son of A.C. Burnham and Sarah Jane Love.

"J.M. Burnham, retired Moberly contractor, died at 7:25 o'clock this morning at his home, 109 South Williams Street. Mr. Burnham had been in poor health for several years and confined to his bed for five weeks.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alec Burnham, he was born April 13, 1868 and was one of Randolph County's oldest contractors in years of business. He retired several years ago.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Lindley of the home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Juanita Parker of Dearborn, Michigan; a brother, Blaine Burnham of Moberly; and a sister, Mrs. Lula Roue of Greeley, Colorado. His wife died February 4, 1943.

Mr. Burnham was a member of the First Christian Church.

The body will be at the home tomorrow morning and will remain there for funeral services to be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon by Dr. Allen Dunan, pastor of the Coates Street Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery." Moberly Monitor-Index, April 20, 1944
