David Arthur Morey, 88, of Harlingen, TX, passed away May 11, 2012. Born December 24, 1923, in Vernon County, MO, David was the son of Stephen Augustus Morey and Susie Leota Culbertson Morey. He served in the US Army, 344th Bomb Squadron, 98th Bombardment Group during World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He married May Louise Perry on May 10, 1945. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church. He retired in 1986 after 41 years of service with the Kansas City Area Transit Authority. He became a full-time resident of Texas in the early 1990s, where he nurtured his love of airplanes and flying and volunteered his time and talents at the Texas Air Museum in Rio Hondo, TX. Survived by his loving wife and faithful companion Maxine Riley Morey of Adrian, Missouri, his daughter Gail Diane Clements (Britt) of Columbia, MO, three brothers: Richard Stephen Morey of Georgetown, TX, Paul Thomas Morey of Sheridan, WY, and John Robert Morey of Carlsbad, CA, one sister-in-law Janet (Pat) Morey of Independence, MO, two granddaughters: Deborah Diane Carter (Gary) & Darah Nicole Oxford (Jonathan) of Erlangen, Germany, and 5 great-grandsons: Peyton, Parker, Jackson, Gunnar & Brewer. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife May of 45 years, daughter Melinda Morey Garrett, brother William Revis Morey, sister Wilma Maxene Murrah, and wife Betty Hetler of 15 years. Visitation: at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel on Thur., May 17, at 1:00 PM with funeral services following at 2:00 PM. Internment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in KCMO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Community of Christ Church, 210 S. 27th St. Harlingen, TX 78550 or First Baptist Church, 310 N. Houston St., Adrian, MO 64720.
