Vora Calhoun, 91, of Road 500 West, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation.

A homemaker, Mrs. Calhoun was a longtime member of Shiloh Separate Baptist Church on Georgetown Road.

She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, gardening and cooking.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday.

Burial will be at Shiloh Separate Baptist Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Shiloh Separate Baptist Church Sunday school classes.

Born in Liberty, KY, December 20, 1920, Mrs. Calhoun was the daughter of Wesley and Margaret Meese Eads. She married Howard Tyler Calhoun December 20, 1938. He preceded her in death January 7, 2003.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth R. (Pamela) Calhoun and Larry Q. (Sheryl) Calhoun, both of Columbus, and Standly T. (Beverly) Calhoun of Taylorsville; daughters, Elsie M. Fields, Alice F. Burns, Frieda G. (Wendell) Caudill and Cheryl L. (Stanley) Henry, all of Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Lawrence Dewey Calhoun; grandchildren, Randall Burns and JoAnn Whittington; five brothers; and three sisters.
