Charles E. Berwager, of Hanover, formerly of New Oxford, died May 13, 2012. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Shoemaker) Berwager, who died May 30, 2001, and he was the partner of Lynn Gross of Hanover.

He was born November 25, 1933 in Hanover, the son of the late Clark C. and Helen S. (Sowers) Berwager.

Charlie was a member of St. Paul's "The Pines" Lutheran Church in New Chester, where he served on church council as president, vice president and treasurer.

He retired from L&H Trucking and was a hospice volunteer.

In addition to his partner Lynn, Charlie is survived by a daughter, Kim Lizambri and husband, Todd of Frederick, MD; son, Scott Gross and wife, Karen of Dover; five grandchildren, Dom, Zac, Meg, Soph and Eli; brother, Fred Berwager and wife, Joan of McSherrystown; four sisters, Evelyn Stevens of York Springs, Susan Hoover and husband David of Gardners, Phyllis Fuhrman, and her companion, Ed Smith of Hanover, and Carol Hough and husband Stuart of New Oxford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Clyde Berwager.

Funeral services will be held May 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's "The Pines" Lutheran Church, New Oxford, with his pastor, Rev. Benson Paull, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
