Mrs. John Stambaugh (10/19/1839-10/3/1907)
Mrs. Harriet Henrietta Billman Stambaugh, wife of John Kell Stambaugh of Elliottsburg, died at her home in that place, Thursday of last week, the 3rd inst., aged 67 years, 11 months and 14 days. She had been sick for about eleven weeks, suffering from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, and was confined to her bed all that time.
Mrs. Stambaugh was a daughter of the late Daniel and Catharine (Wentzel) Billman, of Spring Township. She is survived by the following named children: Mrs. Dr. L. M. Shumaker and James Martin Stambaugh, Elliottsburg, and Mrs. Rev. C. I. Raffensperger , Hallam, York County; the following brothers and sisters also survive; Henry Billman, Daniel Wentzel Billman and Isaac Billman, of Spring Township; Mrs. Daniel Zerfing (Rebecca), of Duncannon; Mrs. David S. Campbell (Mary A.), of Bloomfield; and Adam E. Billman, of McCrea, Cumberland County.
Mrs. Stambaugh was a consistent member of the Lutheran church and was a fine woman in every respect- a good wife and mother and a kind and affectionate sister and friend. She was very highly esteemed by all who knew her and her death is deeply deplored. Her bereaved family have our sincere sympathy in their sad affliction. The funeral was on Monday. The services conducted by Rev. Royer, assisted by Rev. Leinbach, both of whom spoke beautifully of the christian character of the deceased. Interment was made in the Reformed churchyard at Elliottsburg.
