He married Mamie Wellence in Biloxi, Mississippi on July 19, 1949.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1966, they made their home in Davenport, Washington until moving to Spokane, WA in 2011.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting and gathering pea pods for the deer on his property. He drove school bus for several years while his children were in school. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and seven sisters.
