Obituary-Capital, The (Annapolis, MD) — Thursday, October 24, 1996
Curtis E.H. Benton Sr., 77, a native and lifelong resident of Stevensville, died Oct. 22 at his home. The cause of death was not available.

Mr. Benton graduated from the former Stevensville High School, Class of 1935. He served in the Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and saw action in the European Theater.

He worked as a carpentry supervisor and retired from Lauer Construction of Edgewater.

Mr. Benton was a member of the Kent Island United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the Kent Island Heritage Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a past member of the Kent Island Yacht Club.

Survivors include his wife, the former Erma Elizabeth Black; two sons, Curtis E. Benton Jr. of Centreville and Barry L. Benton of Ellicott City; one daughter, Tina B. Houston of Stevensville; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Kent Island United Methodist Church on Cox Neck Road at 2 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc., P.O. Box 179, Centreville, MD 21617-0179.
