LEWISTOWN - Clarence S. Hawk, 80, formerly of Beaver Springs, went to be with his Lord at 11:52 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2010, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.He was born March 9, 1929, in Butler. He was the son of the late Samuel Guy and Ethel Graham Hawk.Clarence is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Smathers, whom he married Jan. 3, 1953.Also surviving are Clarence E. Hawk and wife, Esther, of Delaware, Beth Brosius and husband, Dan, of Ottsville, Amy Mueller and husband, Ron, of Exton, Carol Stoner and husband, Barry, of McClure, Brian Hawk and wife, Julie, of South Carolina; a sister, Edna Taylor, of New York; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hawk.Clarence retired from Kinney Shoe Factory after 30 years.He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart and Korean Service medal with three bronze stars.He was a graduate of Taccoa Falls College in pastoral studies in 1957.Early in his adulthood, he pastored two churches in western Pennsylvania.He was a member of the Bannerville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in McClure for 43 years.Clarence derived great pleasure from reading his Bible, gardening and spending time with his family.A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2010, at the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church located at 160 Summit Drive in Lewistown, with the Rev. John Grumbine and the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating.Military services will be performed by VFW Post 7011 Lewistown.The family will receive visitors following the service.In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Piano Fund at Ohesson Manor at 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044
