Rites Thursday For L.P. Layfield

KERENS, Nov. 29. - (Spl.) - L.P. Layfield, 81-year-old resident of Powell, died of a heart attack at his home Wednesday morning.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Kerens, with Rev. M.O Southerland, the pastor of Powell Baptist church, conducting and Rev. Pete Goodwin, pastor of the Powell Methodist church, assisting.

Burial will be in the Prairie Point Cemetery.

Surviving are the wife of Powell; six sons, Tom and W.P. Layfield, both of Kerens; W.H., J.L., F.H. and R.E. Layfield, all of Powell; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Benthly of Lubbock; two brothers, Jim Layfield of Van Nuys, Calif., and Bud Layfield of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Sallie Griffen of Houston; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Pallberers will be Murry Alsup, Alex McKinney, H.H. Hanks, Ed Gowan, Allen Jamerson, Pete Ross, Alex Kent and Charles Kent.

Inmon Funeral Home is in charge.
