LEONARD BARND
Leonard Barnd, son of C. K. Barnd of this city, died at his home near Lansing, Iowa, last Saturday, April 3rd, following a very brief illness of pneumonia. The remains were brought to the home of his parents in this city on Tuesday evening, and funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church Thursday morning, at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. Father T. Rooney will have charge of the services. Interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Barnd was born in Delhi, May 18th, 1894, and spent his boyhood days there and in Manchester. On June 23, 1913 he was united in marriage with Nettie Utley of Manchester. He had been engaged in farming in the vicinity of Manchester until the first of March, 1920, when he bought a half interest in the large farm which Oscar Hockaday has owned at Lansing, Iowa, and moved on the same with his family.

Mr. Barnd leaves surviving him his wife, and step son. Lyle, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barnd of this city, three brothers, James Barnd of Manchester, W????? Barnd of Strawberry Point, Carl Barnd, of Forest City, Iowa, and one sister, Catherine Barnd, at home.

Leonard Barnd was ambitious and straightforward, and was a successful young farmer. He had just moved onto the large farm which he and Mr. Hockaday owned together, and was getting a fine start when the summons came. He was a dutiful son, and a kind and devoted husband and father. His death comes with peculiar sadness to the wife and the other members of the family who were attached to him by tender family ties. In this great sorrow that has come to them they have the profound sympathy of their friends.
