Francis D. Hurlbut, son of Manly T. Hurlbut and
Grace D. Rinehart was born 25 Jul 1898 in Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory. He died at the age of 75 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania after being seriously ill for a week.

Francis and Minnie Lausch Shimp were united in marriage by the Rev. John Tate in Richmond, Virginia 17 June 1924.

"Frank", held the distinction of being operating manager of ERPI (Electrical Research Products, Inc.) of Western Europe and developed the "Vitaphone" which later became the standard means of adding sound to motion pictures. His daughter, Ann, had the notoriety of being called, "the first Vitaphone baby" as she was born in the pre-ERPI month of December 1926. Francis had an illustrious career spanning 45 years as an electrical engineer with Western Electric which later became AT&T.

Francis D. Hurlbut and his brother,
were baptized 17 Oct 1908 at the Christian Church baptistry by the Rev. T. L. Neblitt after going forward in evangelistic services held by John L. Branot in Guthrie, Oklahoma almost 1 year following the admission of Oklahoma as the 46th state of our United States. His grandmother, Louvina Jane McClelland Rinehart was buried by the Rev. T. L. Neblitt as well according to her obituary posted on her memorial
