Albert Meier dies, funeral in Lusk Monday

Albert H. Meier, 68, of Lusk, died at the Casper Hospital Friday, Aug. 21. Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk Monday afternoon at 2:00. Burial was in the Harrison, Nebr. Cemetery.The Rev. Thomas Jacobson, Crawford interim pastor for the Lutheran Church of Lusk officiated. Mrs. Ab DeCastro was organist. She accompanied Dan Christian, Harry Lyon, Mrs. Robert Bramlet and Nancy Nagel as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Casket bearers were Leo Heins, Lee Thomas, Howard Haworth, Jim Smith, Roy Turnbull and Bernard Thon.
Mr. Meier was a son of Charles and Johanna Meier and was born at St. Louis, Mo. June 22, 1902. He came to Wyoming at the age of eight with his parents when they homesteaded 11 miles north of Van Tassell. At the age of 15, he returned to St. Louis to be baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He returned to the Van Tassell area where he spent his younger days working on ranches. He married Jessie Teter October 6, 1926. He ranched in the Kirtley and Keeline area all his married life until three years ago when he retired and moved to Lusk. He loved music and for about 40 years played for country dances. His parents, four brothers and one sister died previously. He is survived by his widow Jessie of the family home; two sons Albert W. of Meeteetsee, Jesse J. of Casper and one daughter Mabel Houx of Keeline; seven grandchildren, Mickey, Larry, Wanda, and Shelly Meier, Connie, Richard and Jay Houx and one brother Walter Meier of Alliance.
