VanHOOSE, E. Merle 90, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Forest Glen Health Campus. She was born on May 17, 1921, in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Hollie and Nancy (Meade) LeMaster. She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Jack) Speer of S. Charleston and Janet Scott of Enon; two sons, Frank (Lesley) and Jeffery (Patricia both of Boone, N.C.; ten grandchildren, Terri (Steve) Paugh, Dee McFarland and Amy (Tim) Manning all of S. Charleston, Chris (Katie) Levens and Laura Scott all of Dayton, Aric (Nikki) VanHoose of Springfield, Philip (Lisa) Scott of Enon, Angela Neuman of Hilliard, Chaz and Chelsea VanHoose of Boone, N.C.; 13 great grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Grace LeMaster, Martha Conley and Ruby Doyle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Chester F. VanHoose (2008); and brothers, Elmer and Jesse LeMaster. Edith was a member of the Hickory Grove United Baptist Church which was an important part of her life along with her family. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and crocheting and was a very loving and nurturing mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME-Springfield where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 with Elder Patrick Gilliand officiating. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston Food Pantry or the Bethel Baptist Church.
