Mrs. Herring was born in Princeton, W.Va. She was a member of Norview Baptist Church, the church choir and Mission Team of Norview Baptist and a sponsor of the Christian Children's Fund. She was the widow of Edward James Herring.
Survivors include a son, Paul A. Herring and daughter-in-law, Nancy A. Herring of Norfolk; two sisters, Sherry Quackenbush of Emporia, Va., and Jean Boles of White Stone, Va.; a brother, Jimmy D. Hammond of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today at Norview Baptist Church by the Rev. James Bradshaw. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family was at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Contributions can be made to Norview Baptist Church Mission Team.
