Jimmie Estelle Gary Batton, Oct 9 1912, June 10 2005

Jimmie Estelle Gary Battonwas born Oct. 9, 1912 in Eupora, Mississippi and died June 10, 2005 in Texarkana, Texas at the Cornerstone Methodist Retirement Center.

Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack 0. Batton; her parents, James 0. Gary and Ethel Cooper Gary; two sisters, Alto Tyson and Mary Hayden; one brother Coneus W. Gary ; and sister-in-law, Gene Gary who died one week ago. Gene Gary was so faithful in Jimmie's care while she lived in Eupora before she moved to Texarkana.

She is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law: James T. & Willard Gary of Eupora, Mississippi and Dr. Lloyd E. & Clarice Gary of Texarkana, Texas; six nieces and their families: Dorothy & Howard Haywood, Mary Ethel & Roger Muns, Judith & Marvin Mims, Jan & Bill Hommel, Lisa & Mike Hart, and Robin Gary; four great nieces and seven great nephews.

Jimmie graduated from Eupora High School and the "W" now Mississippi State University for Women. She taught school in Mississippi for many years and after her marriage she taught in Mt. Dora & St. Cloud, Florida. Jimmie enjoyed activities with her family and was the "Life of the Family" at all holiday events. She loved her pupils and was an excellent teacher. She was loved by her nieces and nephews. She loved life to the fullest and enjoyed many close friends over the years. She loved her church and was very active in all programs until she became incapacitated. She was an active member in the First Methodist Church of St. Cloud, Florida and the First United Methodist Church in Eupora, Mississippi. She loved music and played the piano and organ until her health prevented her from playing.

A visitation preceded the funeral from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Funeral services were 10:30 AM Wednesday in the Oliver Funeral Home with Rev Larry Creel officiating followed by interment at the Eupora Cemetery.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
