Daniel Thomas Avery son of Mary Dean Avery and John Avery. When his parents both died April 9, 1862 Daniel was brought to Decatur Co. Ga (from Jackson Co. Fl.) and raised by James and Temperance Brock Dean. James "Pappy" Dean and Mary Dean Avery were brother and sister. It is unknown where Mary Dean Avery and John Avery are buried. It is rumored that Daniel's parents were murdered and Mary hid little Daniel in the kitchen wood box where he was found later.
Daniel Thomas Avery married Mary Ann Ray on Feb. 15th, 1880. Daniel and Mary had one daughter: Polly Avery who married William M. Croft.
Daniel Thomas Avery married Patsy Lodge on Oct. 17th, 1886. Daniel and Patsy had 13 children: 2 of those died at birth. Amanda "Mammie", James Henry, Ola, John Daniel, William "Billy", Eddie Daniel, Neadam, Tom, Andrew, Margaret, Fannie Mae.
