Donnie lived in Screven County for all of his life. His greatest loves were his family, the Savannah River and animals. He will be remembered as a friend to everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lila Mae Rowe and Harvey Lee Boykin, a nephew, William Key, and his father-in-law, Jessie Joiner.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Joiner Boykin of Newington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Jr., and Michelle Boykin of Newington and Kris Boykin of Wilmington Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Kathy Boykin of Newington; grandchildren, Justin Boykin, Brittney Boykin, and Courtney Boykin; mother-in-law, Beatrice Joiner of Newington; several nieces and nephews and his special dog, Mollie.
The visitation will be Friday evening from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Newington Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler assisted by Rev. Carol Morgan.
Interment will follow in the Newington City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Boykin, David Boykin, Darrell Boykin, Brooks Sheffield, Todd Sheffield, Ben Joiner and Tre' Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Lee, Weyman Smoak, Ralph Beard, Billy Stuart, Donald Scott, Earl McIlrath, Steve Clarke, Bobby Hattrich, Donnie Mallard and Gene Shuman.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Newington Methodist Church, care of Charles Lee, P.O. Box 113 Newington, GA 30446 or Spanish Oaks Hospice, 8510 Whitfield Ave. Savannah, GA 31406.
