FRED G. LACHELT

Fred George Lachelt, 84, of 80 Manchester St., Markesan, died Saturday evening at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 31, 1885, near Princeton, a son of Samuel and Caroline Oelke Lachelt. He married Mrs. Dagamar Sorenson Phalen.

Mr. Lachelt came to Markesan at the age of 2 and lived there since, retiring 12 years ago from Manufacturing Concrete Products, Markesan.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Miss Serene Lachelt of Wyocena and Mrs. Eli Posthuma of Randolph; two sons, Harry of Markesan and Merrill of LaCrescent, Minn.; two grandchildren; four step-children, Mrs. George Rockstead of New Holstein, Mrs. Norman Schmidt of Shawano, George Phalen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and John Phalen of Shawano; 19 step-grandchildren; and one great-step grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Zion, Markesan, with the Rev. Donald E. Sumwalt and the Rev. L. Thiele officiating. Burial will be in Markesan Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Kratz Funeral Home, Fox Lake, and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
