A Route 2, Cox's Creek resident, George Maxwell Watts, age 71, died Saturday, Oct. 1, at Humana Hospital Audubon, Louisville, after an illness.
He was a retired employee of the T.W. Samuels Distillery boiler room.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mellie Snellen; two sons, James Watts, Bardstown, and Bill Watts, Cox's Creek; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Earl (Delores) St. Clair, of Cox's Creek; four grandchildren; a step grandchild and a step great-grandchild; one brother, J. C. Watts of Belmont, and two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Baumgardner, Louisville, and Mrs. Eliza Mae Osborne of Bardstown.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the M. H. Proffitt Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. D. Shipp, pastor of the New Salem Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in New Salem Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pat Bartley, Danny Taylor, Elwood Coomes Jr., Wilford Fields, James Allen Wiggs, Bobby and Tommy St. Clair.
