Ida Bell was born in 1883 the first child of G.W. and Emily South Williamson. In 1905 she married Ben Patterson and had the following children: Emily, George, Mirian, Thomas, and Cora. Mr. Patterson died in 1912. In 1914 Ida Bell married Rev. L.R Hallman. This union produced sons Luther and Aaron.

Her brothers and sisters were Dellie, Rosco, Etta, Lela, Hassie, Jessie, Eddie, Tollie, and Trannie.
