Daughter of Joseph E. McConnell and Melvina Adell Phelps McConnell.

Born in "Volga City, Iowa, in Fayette county" according to her Fairfield Ia. Ledger obituary. Modern listings have Volga City as being in Clayton county. The Jefferson county death record for her son Gene listed her DOB location as being Tobias, Nebraska. Will just use "USA" for this DOB location due to these differences, pending any clarification or further documentation.

Anna is buried in the same plot as her parents, but her grave is unmarked. Son Gene Robert Simmons is also buried in the same plot, also without a headstone or inscription. Update October 13, 2012: funeral home markers for Anna and son Gene have been put in place sometime between May and October 2012. It is possible that a full headstone for them will be installed.

Raymond L. Simmons burial location is undetermined at this time. Clarification as to where he is buried would be appreciated.

Note:
Would appreciate any information as to where Anna's other children are buried. Glen/Glenn is accounted for with a memorial already in place by another contributor. His name is found as "Glen" in his obituary and that of his mother. In court documents on file in the Jefferson county probate office his name was spelled "Glenn", so he may have changed the spelling at some point in his life.
